This piece compiles my research from this fall into a three-part discussion surrounding:
1. Mental illness in prisons (why it's so prevalent, and how people with mental illnesses are at a higher risk of sexual victimization than the general population)
2. The Prison Rape Elimination Act of 2003, and how it specifically addresses those with mental illnesses
3. Possible solutions to the problem of sexual victimization of those with mental illnesses in prisons
