Hello Again! (4/19)

Hello! It's been a lot of weeks since I last blogged/vlogged.

I've been dealing with general senioritis and have had not only a hard time completing work on time but just having a hard time convincing myself to complete minor assignments (such as these blogs).

Since my last blog/vlog I have finished my Final Product. I wrote a comparative literature review of mental health practices in correctional facilities between Norway and the United States as well as how these practices affect the rate of recidivism. While completing my product what I found most interesting was that Norway has a lot more transparency in its practices. Not only was a study that surveyed their prison population easily accessed, but 95% of their incarcerated population also participated in this study. This would not happen in the US. The information would not be readily available, and nowhere close to 95% would participate.

Next Tuesday is our Final Product Presentation Night, and between now and then I have a few things to do. First I need to do some edits/add a section focused on the implications of my actual work. Secondly I need to make a few edits to my presentation. Third I need to make sure I still am comfortable and accurate when presenting my Original Work from this fall since that will be happening on our presentation night.

I feel generally pretty comfortable with my presentation skills but I am worried that I will not push myself as much as I should, and will end up with a presentation that I am not happy with. It would be very easy to let myself stop trying, but I think that I need to remember not only the importance of my work but also what this work means to me. This work is the accumulation of two great years in ISM where I was able to study a topic I was interested in just because I was interested.

It will be a push to the end, but I am excited to close out the year!
