It's crazy to think that it's already October and that soon enough I will be completing my Original Work. I don't remember if I wrote this last week, but I do have my mentor confirmed and I will most likely be meeting with her for the first time this year sometime this week. I also have created a list of professionals I plan on contacting for research interviews. There is a professor from Yale School of Medicine who specializes in neurocognition and has research done about schizophrenia as well. I have noticed that schizophrenia seems to be one of the main SMIs that people who are incarcerated have. I have a few questions about the link between schizophrenia and neurodevelopment, and how that affects behavior which I believe this professor will be able to answer.

Once again I have a busy week and will need to remain very on top of everything. I already have some ideas for when I can get everything done.

As I continue my research I feel myself being very grateful for all of the information I have been able to find. There is so much research that has been done having to do with mental illness and general healthcare in prisons, and the more I find the more I just think back to last year when I couldn't find anything. I hope and plan to bring this attitude into the rest of the year, while I get some great work done.
