RECREATION

Like all of the other changes made in the standard prison model, the changes in recreation have been to decrease dehumanization, and lower the rate of recidivism. Incarceration is the punishment for committing a crime, not the conditions of it. Lots of areas of recreation that are included while disguised as an activity contributes as another aspect of counseling (which helps lower the rate of recidivism).

Also like many other aspects of this model, more money is required to facilitate these changes. However, it is worth it because of the money that will be saved in the long run when fewer are incarcerated for a second (or possibly third) time.
